Center of Excellence in Shock Wave Treatment

We are a center of reference and excellence in extracorporal shock wave treatment (ESWT) in Orthopedics.

We are a pioneering team with international training and certification for shock wave treatment in the area of Orthopedics and Traumatology.

We have been providing treatment for various diseases of the musculoskeletal system for 20 years. Shockwave treatment bridges the gap between the failure of conventional treatment and surgical treatment.

High-level scientific publications published over the last 2 decades clearly demonstrate the benefits of shock wave treatment in its classic indications.

Carrying out treatment by unqualified professionals without prior training and certification compromises the results of the treatment.

Care with the correct indication of the treatment as well as the correct use of the type of device are basic and fundamental conditions that directly influence the result of the treatment.

It is a non-invasive, non-chemical therapeutic option with minimal side effects, before surgery is indicated, avoiding the risks inherent to the surgical and anesthetic procedure itself. Shock wave treatment can prevent unnecessary surgeries as well as hospitalization for the vast majority of our patients.

Shock Wave Treatment - What is it?

Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT – ExtraShockWaveTherapy) has been used in medicine for approximately 25 years. It was initially used in Urology to treat the disintegration of kidney stones. Until then, these were treated surgically. With an efficacy rate of around 98% of cases, shock wave therapy has become the ideal treatment method due to its effectiveness and lower risk when compared to surgery.

Similar to ESWT, it is used in Orthopedics to treat various diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

Discovered in Germany, and used in 37 countries and considered in some European centers as the treatment of choice for shoulder tendonitis, heel spurs, epicondylitis and non-consolidated fractures.

It is a safe, effective method, and its greatest benefit is that it avoids surgery, as well as the risks associated with it, and there is generally no need for anesthesia.

ESWT in Orthopedics aims to stimulate the repair and healing process in tendons, myotendinous junctions and bone tissue, a completely different fact from what happens in urology indications, which are limited to the disintegration of kidney stones.

Likewise, the devices used in orthopedics are specific and generally different from the devices used in hospitals to treat kidney stones. This difference occurs mainly due to the specific and more superficial focus on the various diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

Wave treatment has substantially changed the way some diseases are treated in the area of Orthopedics and Traumatology, and there has also been an increasing acceptance of this new non-invasive treatment within the community of orthopedic surgeons.

This medical procedure, approved by the FDA and CE, is currently listed in the Brazilian Hierarchical Classification of Medical Procedures, presenting high therapeutic efficacy and low cost when compared to surgical procedures performed in hospitals, benefiting patients due to the negligible side effects and minimal complications that accompany this non-invasive method.
