What are Shockwaves?

Shock waves are energetic, audible sound waves. Shock waves have been used in medicine since 1980 to dissolve kidney stones, among other things. In modern pain therapy, the energy of the shock waves is transferred to the pain zones in the human body. There it can unfold its healing effect. Healing processes in the body are accelerated, the metabolism improves, blood circulation is increased, damaged tissue regenerates and heals.

Many years of experience have shown that this innovative healing method can be used to specifically eliminate pathological changes in tendons, ligaments, capsules, muscles and bones, the causes of your pain.

Performed by qualified therapists, extracorporeal shock wave therapy is a largely risk-free and side-effect-free method of treating pain.

How does shockwave treatment work?

The therapist localizes the area of pain by palpation or shock wave localization and discusses the clinical picture with you.

A skin gel is applied to the area to be treated in order to introduce the shock waves into the body without any loss of energy and largely pain-free.

The pain zone is circled with the therapy head, while the shock waves are introduced at the same time.

How often is treatment necessary and how long does it take?

The treatment lasts between five and ten minutes, depending on the clinical picture. On average, three to five sessions are required at weekly intervals.
